Prayer in the Square event happening tonight

LIMA — Prayer in the Square will take place from 6 to 7 p.m. today downtown. Everyone is welcome to attend for this time of unity and prayer for the city of Lima.

Annual Gymanfa Ganu planned at Salem Presbyterian

GOMER — The annual Gymanfa Ganu, or Welsh Festival of Song, will take place at 7 p.m. Sept. 4 at Salem Presbyterian Church, 15240 Main St. Venedocia. A light supper will be served beforehand from 4 to 6 p.m. The director this year will be Christopher Uhl and the featured soloist will be Susan (Morgan) Leffel.

Chicken dinner to be served at Dupont church

CONTINENTAL — There will be a chicken dinner starting at 11 a.m. on Aug. 27 at Dupont Church of the Brethren, 104 N. River St. The meal includes a half chicken, homemade potato salad, baked beans, dessert and drink for a suggested donation of $8. Carry-out is available. For details, call 419-596-4314.

Community meal to be held at Pandora UMC

PANDORA — There will be a free community meal held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Aug. 31 in the fellowship hall at Pandora United Methodist Church, 108 E. Washington St. The meal, which is being provided by the missions committee, will include sausage sandwiches, sauerkraut, wedding noodles, watermelon, assorted cookies, punch, water and coffee. Food boxes available for those in need

PANDORA — Food boxes are available for pick up at 11 a.m. Aug. 27 at Grace Mennonite Church, 502 E. Main St. The food boxes provide nine meals for a family of four and are available for those in Pandora-Gilboa schools. Boxes can only be picked up by those who have registered by 5 p.m. Monday by calling 419-384-3038.

Christian Fellowship Meal scheduled at St. John UMC

COLUMBUS GROVE — There will be a Christian fellowship meal held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Aug. 17 in the basement of St. John United Methodist Church, 205 N. High St. The meal will include shredded chicken sandwiches, baked beans, potato salad, other salads and desserts. For details, call 419-659-2380.

Life Tree Café program topic announced

VAN WERT — The program, “Border Wars: Is There a Compassionate Response to Illegal Immigration?” featuring filmed interviews with a border control agent, Mexican nationals and former U.S. Rep.
