Whirpool to host fundraiser for AHA

OTTAWA — The Whirpool Corp. will host “On Par for CPR” Saturday at Country Acres Golf Club.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the American Heart Association “to further its mission of building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke,” a press release stated.

Dollars raised by the American Heart Association fund research that leads to medical advances used to treat patients in area hospitals. AHA also provides heart health awareness, prevention education and CPR training to schools, corporations and medical professionals in Putnam County and the surrounding area.

Putnam County EMS has partnered with Whirlpool and AHA to provide “hands-only” CPR demonstrations at Country Acres on the morning of the outing.

The event will begin at 7:15 a.m. for registration and CPR demonstrations. Registration is $55 per person ($220 per team), includes 18 holes and a cart, lunch, two beverages and a voucher for a second round of golf to be used at a future date, provided by Country Acres.

Council on Aging announces events

LIMA — The Allen County Council on Aging has announced two upcoming events.

Persons age 60 and older are invited to a “Big Band Dance” from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday at the Eagles Hall, 800 W. Robb Ave. Music will be provided by the Al Best Band. No reservations are required, and there is no cost to attend.

The “Conversing with Caregivers” support group will meet from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Thursday at the Allen County Council on Aging, 215 N. Central Ave. According to a press release, the meeting is to offer support and encouragement for family caregivers. There is no charge to attend and reservations are not required.
