LIMA — Robert “Bob” Oden celebrated his 90th birthday with a dinner with family and friends. A card shower would be appreciated for Bob Oden c/o Michael Oden, 785 S. Sunderland Road, Spencerville, OH 45887.
He was born Aug. 10, 1926, in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, to Nathan Oden Sr. and Allyne Parsons Oden. On Nov. 23, 1949, he married Jean Osman.
He has three children, Mike (Patty) Oden, of Spencerville, Sean (Kay) Oden, of Lima, and Pam (Scott Whitlock) Oden, of Chicago. He has three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He served in the Army in Japan during World War II as a mechanic in the Ordnance Unit. He retired from the Army Reserves after 20 years active duty. He retired in 1998 after 21 years at Lima Correctional Institution, where he was a lieutenant. He worked at Underwood Typewriter as a repairman, Greyhound Bus Service as a ticket agent and Northrup King as a traffic controller. He has been a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church for more than 50 years. He bowled on the Northland Lanes Church League. He shares his birthday with his eldest son, Mike.
