ONU duo named All-Central Region in softball

ADA — Ohio Northern junior Adriana Sikora and senior Christin Miller were named All-Central Region in voting conducted by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

Sikora was a first team selection and Miller was a second team honoree.

Sikora was also named first team All-Ohio Athletic Conference and was named to the All-OAC Tournament Team.

She led the OAC this season with 16 home runs, 51 runs scored, 39 RBI, 18 doubles, a 1.016 slugging percentage and a .558 on-base percentage. She led the team and was third in the OAC in batting with a .480 average and started 40 games in right field.

Her 16 home runs are the second-most in a single season in ONU history.

Miller started all 42 games at center field and is a four-time All-OAC and three-time All-Central Region honoree.

She earned first team all-conference accolades in each of her first three seasons as a Polar Bear and was named first team all-region as a sophomore and third team all-region as a junior.

She was second on the team with a .450 batting average and led the team with 67 hits and 22 stolen bases.

Miller is ONU’s all-time career hits leader with 259 and ranks second all-time with 53 stolen bases. She is also just the second player in ONU history to bat better than .400 in four consecutive seasons.

Athletes earn

all-region honors

Area track and field athletes representing earned all-region accolades, which were released by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Monday.

The women’s team had six student-athletes earn the honor while the men had four.

On the men’s side, New Bremen graduate Dillon Webster earned all-region status in the 800-meter run.

On the women’s side, Leipsic grad Kendra Averesch was tabbed all-region in the shot put.

Bluffton grad Lydia Guagenti (high jump) was also selected an all-region athlete.
