Shawnee improves to 3-0 in WBL boys tennis

SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP — Shawnee improved to 3-0 in the Western Buckeye League with a 5-0 victory over St. Marys in boys tennis Tuesday.

Singles players Jason Barton, Avinash Rajasekaran and Ruthvik Avvari did not lose a game. The doubles teams of

Timmy Rutter and Carter Jones and Chris Mart and Troy Brinkman did not lose a set for the Indians (4-1).

Defiance 4, Elida 1

DEFIANCE — The doubles team of Ian Klaus and Jordan Greeley were the lone winners for Elida. Singles players Nolan Parsons, Rodrigo Luque-Cuesta and Joseph Andonegui and the doubles team of Austin Hubbard and Matthew Winner triumphed for Defiance.

Track & field

DELPHOS — The Elida boys and Delphos Jefferson girls came away with team titles Monday.

Clark Etzler of Elida won the 400 dash and long jump and was part of the winning 400 relay. Alex Rigg of Lima Central Catholic won the 1,600 and 3,200 runs and was a member of the winning 3,200 relay team. Spencer Ginter of Delphos St. John’s won the discus and shot put.

Delphos Jefferson won the girls 3,200, 1,600 and 800 relays.
