Not ready for the holiday to be over?
Fear not, there are still a few festivals going on this week in the area, celebrating everything from freedom to music to community. And if you have yet to get your fill of fireworks displays, there’s even a few of those on tap. Find your favorites, and enjoy.
Old Fashioned Farmer Days continues daily at the Van Wert Fairgrounds from 9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. through Sunday. The event features antique tractors and machinery, tractor pulls, car shows, antique car racing, and corn shredding. There will also be crafts, flea markets, animal land, food for sale, and entertainment of all varieties.
The popular Freedom Days Picnic kicks off at 4 p.m. today and continues through Sunday at Lake Shore Park in Celina. Today its food and beverages, with music by Erastus and Killing Karma. Saturday events include a poker run, cornhole tournament, music by Mo Blues and Next Exit, and fireworks at 10 p.m.
The Independence Day Celebration at Community Park kicks off at 4 p.m. today and runs until the 10 p.m. fireworks on Saturday. Events today include a 5K Walk/Run, duck races, softball tournaments, and music by Borrowed Time. On Saturday, its music, a pie contest, cornhole, 50/50, rides, chicken dinners, and more softball tournaments.
The Fourth of July celebration at Country Acres Golf Club includes music and rides at 7 p.m., with a fireworks display at 10 p.m. Sunday. Bring a lawn chair, but no coolers. Proceeds from the event benefit the Putnam Cancer Assistance Program.
The annual Beach Spectacular and Fireworks kicks off Saturday with an 11 a.m. car show at Old Field Beach. Contests fill the rest of the day for Mr. and Miss Firecracker, Miss Indian Lake, and at 3:30 p.m., Indian Lake’s Got Talent finals. The fireworks start at 10 p.m.
