ALLEN COUNTY - The Ohio State Highway Patrol will operate a checkpoint to look for drivers operating a vehicle while intoxicated in Allen County on Saturday night. The location of the checkpoint will be announced Saturday morning.
The checkpoint, funded by federal grants, hopes to deter and intercept impaired drivers, Van Wert post commander Lt. L.D. Brode said. He noted there were 430 OVI-related fatal crashes killed 470 people in 2012 in Ohio.
"OVI checkpoints are designed to not only deter impaired driving, but to proactively remove these dangerous drivers from our roadways," Brode said.
