LIMA — The region's faithful gathered today to pray during the 62nd annual National Day of Prayer.
At lunchtime, people gathered at Lima's Memorial Hall,listening to the Temple Christian High School choir and speakers on conviction, compassion and courage. They prayed for county leaders, the military, schools and family.
A similar event played out in front of the Putnam County Courthouse in Ottawa, Brown Park in Bellefontaine and Heritage Park in Wapakoneta. Evening services were planned at Ebenezer Mennonite Church in Bluffton and a youth rally at The Lighthouse in Findlay.
The National Day of Prayer, held the first Thursday of May, asks people of different faiths to join together to pray for the country. In 1952, a joint resolution of Congress established the annual event.
