Continental church presenting "A Journey Through Time"

March 20, 2013

CONTINENTAL – Free Christian Church, north of Continental, will present “A Journey Through Time,” March 27, 28 and 29.

The church has been presenting this drama since 1997.

“It changes some each year,” said Rev. James Fry, who wrote and planned the production. ‘We add something to it each year.” Rev. Fry said he wrote the drama to explain the Easter story and the need for a blood sacrifice.

“I wanted to tie the old and new testament together to explain why Jesus had to die,” Rev. he said.

A “Journey Through Time” is an hour and a half long presentation where visitors can see God’s plan unfold before their eyes. From the fall of Adam and Eve in the garden, through the first Passover in the land of Egypt and onto the last supper Jesus had with his disciples you will see, taste, touch and smell the events as they happen. You are immersed in all of the action and drama that explains the sacrifice that God made so that you may have eternal life.

In additions to live actors, the drama also uses video, special lighting, special sound effects and movable props to tell the story. They are also adding live music performed by members of the congregation, to this year’s drama.

Rev. Fry said they have added a huge ending to this year’s program that portrays Jesus triumph.

The cast includes 100 members of the church. The drama is presented in two rooms of the church. Guests are moved from one room to the next as the “Journey’ progresses.

Three presentations are given each of the three nights starting at 6 p.m.

Rev. Fry said because of limited seating they ask that you call in to reserve a ticket for a specific time and date.

“We just want to make sure that you have seat when you show up,” Rev. Fry said.

The tickets are free in exchange for a non-perishable food item for the local food pantry.

“You can call the church and we will set a ticket aside for you,” Rev. Fry said. Everyone must have a ticket to enter.

To reserve you ticket call the church office at 419-596-3103.

The church is located at the corner of State Routes 15 and 634.
