Lower costs, less risk, and saving energy are three reasons why village council is signing another contract with Efficiency Smart.
Council had its second reading on Monday of the ordinance that would renew a three-year contract with ES.
Village manager Steve Pyles said the savings give the village a two-to-one return on its investment, which is $90,000 per year.
That investment cost is based on the village’s energy sales to the residents.
An independent verification study of the village’s energy savings with ES produced by the program was twice the cost of the program, Pyles said.
“In other words for every dollar we invest our customers realize two dollars in savings,” he said.
The company also has the lowest cost and since the village has already worked with them in the past, Pyles said there is less risk than switching to another power supply resource.
The ordinance has one more reading scheduled before it’s passed.
