LIMA ‚?? Looking for something unique for Dad? How about an outdoor town party, the likes of which has never been seen before in Lima.
At least before now.
But this Sunday is the launch of the first ever Happy Father‚??s Daz, a big party at the Rotary Pavilion in Faurot Park.
‚??This is the brainchild of John Heaphy,‚?Ě said Bart Mills of Council for the Arts of Greater Lima. ‚??For years we‚??ve started our Concerts in the Park after Father‚??s Day, and for a couple of years John has wondered about starting something specifically on Father‚??s Day. Well, this year nothing else was going on, so this worked out."
In fact, the party will include a variety of entertainment, free sandwiches, and activities for the kids.
‚??Everyone he asked to come to the table will be here. Happy Daz will offer free hamburgers, hotdogs and bottled water for everyone. Tom Ahl will bring the Kangaroo Cave Kids Zone with lots of inflatables for the kids to enjoy for free,‚?Ě Mills said.
Entertainment for the event will include music by Chuck Summer, Will Freed and The Beer Barrel Boys. Charles ‚??The Raven‚?Ě Thomas will spin music between performers.
‚??We think this event will be a nice tribute to fathers. Kids can take their dad‚??s to dinner and not break the bank,‚?Ě Mills said.
The Father‚??s Day event is also the kick-off to the first of nine free Happy Daz Concerts in the Park. Those concerts will run 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sundays through Aug. 11 at the Rotary Pavilion at Faurot Park.
