LIMA —Betty R. Green, of Lima, celebrated her 90th birthday April 10, 2014. An open house is planned from 6 to 8 p.m., today, April 20th, in the fellowship hall of the First Evangelical & Reformed Church on the corner of West and Wayne Streets.
She was born April 10, 1924, in Lima to Nellie Ruth and William Hayden Reese. On May 14, 1943 she married Benjamin Harvey Green, and he died Jan. 5, 2005.
Green has four children, Ben (Jane) Green, of Fenton, MI, Betsy (Alan) May, of Lakeview, Jill (Steve) Perham, of Columbus Grove and Gary (Barbara) Green, of Valparaiso, IN. She has 14 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
She has attended First Evangelical and Reformed Church since childhood. She was a member of the women’s group and the Builders Class and taught Sunday School to preschoolers.
Green was an advisor for Bath Stitch & Rip 4-H Club. She enjoys cook books, wildlife and winters in Florida with her son, Ben and his wife, Jane.
