LIMA — A new interactive community website is being launched Sunday that allows Lima and Allen County residents to post their news and photographs about area events and organizations.
The website, MyOwnLima.com, is a new product of The Lima News and is being sponsored by The Union Bank Co., Lawson Brothers Construction and Busy B Realty.
The new MyOwnLima.com website allows readers, schools, community organizations, local governments and others to post their favorite photographs, such as vacation or sports photos; share upcoming events, such as Scout meetings and bake sales; and even write their own blogs.
“The MyOwn community website is based on the town square, or public square, concept,” said Michael Bush, president and CEO of Civitas Media, the parent company of The Lima News. “As an amateur historian, I am intrigued by how communities were influenced by the interaction that took place in the town square, or community center, and how important that type of interaction still is today.”
The MyOwnLima.com website is an innovative way to find out about, and participate in, what’s going on near you. The site has been designed so residents have plenty of opportunity to share photos, videos and stories, as well play online games, post upcoming events or just see what your neighbors are doing.
“With today’s busy lifestyles, it has become more and more difficult for individuals and families to easily maintain the level of daily interaction that keeps a community vibrant. As the leading source of news and information, we felt we should find a solution to keep community members involved, informed and active,” said Jim Shine, Publisher of The Lima News.
MyOwnLima.com is different from the newspaper’s current website, LimaOhio.com. LimaOhio.com offers both free and paid content, updated throughout the day and supplied by local reporters and top news organizations from around the country.
The MyOwn website is a community-specific news, information and engagement platform driven by area residents. There is no charge to read or post content.
Bush said, “The MyOwn sites can revolutionize the way neighbors connect with each other and their communities.”
