Janice E. Dunlap, 66, died at 3:15 a.m. Aug. 9, 2013, at her residence.
She was born Jan. 8, 1947, in Lima to the late William C. and Minnie M. Mawhorr Putt Sr. She married James R. Dunlap and they were later divorced.
Janice had been a corrections officer at the Lima Correctional Institution. She was not only a wonderful mother and grandmother to her own children and grandchildren, but was called “Mom” and “Grandma” by many kids throughout the years. She always had a an open house and heart to any child in need. She was also a loving and loyal friend to many people. She was a 1965 graduate of Lafayette-Jackson High School and obtained an associates degree in criminal justice/corrections from Lima Technical College.
Survivors include a daughter, Rochelle Dunlap, of Delphos; a son, J. Ryan (Jessica) Dunlap, of Pandora; five grandchildren, Wendy Dunlap, Breanna Dunlap, Schuyler Dunlap, Braden Dunlap and Corey (Samantha) Dunlap; two great-grandchildren, Iris VanDyke and Drake Dunlap; best friend, Carla Miller, of Lima; and two heart daughters, Candi Hinds, of Lima, and Lynn Dunlap, of Spencerville.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
