BLUFFTON ó Phoebe Ann Clapper, 94, died at 11:25 p.m. July 28, 2013, at Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton.
She was born July 3, 1919, in Hancock County to the late John and Mary Barkimer Wilkins. On Feb. 23, 1941, she married Boyd L. Clapper, and he died Dec. 5, 2010.
Phoebe was a homemaker and had been a 4-H adviser. She was an artist and china painter. Phoebe was a graduate of Bluffton High School.
Survivors include a daughter, Joyce (Thomas) Martin; a grandchild, Elizabeth (Joseph) Darnell; two great-grandchildren, Reese and Jude Darnell; and a sister, Glada Basinger, of Pandora.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Norma Clapper; a granddaughter, Lydia Martin; five brothers, Waldo, Daniel, John Jr., Delbert and Rudy Wilkins; and six sisters, Edna Crawford, Sylvia Scoles, Mildred Hanna, Marie Mauk, Leota Badertscher and Treva Bartley.
Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton. The Rev. Jim Neighbors will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, near Mount Cory.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
