LIMA â?? Edith Janice â??Janâ?ť Shepard, 83, went home to be with her Lord at 11:30 p.m. April 25, 2013 at Lima Memorial Health System.
She was born Sept. 4, 1929, in Sikeston, Mo. to Marshall A. & Edith L. (Shuppert) Myers, who preceded her in death. On Sept. 30, 1948, she married Floyd E. Shepard, who survives in Lima.
Mrs. Shepard was a 1949 graduate of Sikeston High School, Sikeston, Mo. She was a member of Bath Community Church, formerly Bluelick United Methodist Church, where she played the organ for 25 years. Jan retired from the Ohio Department of Transportation in 1990. Mrs. Shepard was a member of the American Business Womenâ??s Association (ABWA), serving as president three times, and she was named â??Woman of The Yearâ?ť in 1984. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Survivors also include three daughters, Carolyn J. (Phil) Coleman, Sondra A. (Ed) West and Patricia J. Shepard, all of Lima; six grandchildren, Jenny (Lance) Nickles, Heather West, Julie (Mike) Howard, PJ (Nicole) Coleman, Crissie (Lance) Bentley and Kelly Jo (Mike) McGuire, all of Lima; a sister, Nancy Vaughn, of California; a sister-in-law, Geri Myers, of Michigan; 18 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Christina Lyn Coleman; four Brothers, Mark (Norrine) Myers Jr., Tom (Peggy) Myers, Jean (Nancy) Myers, and Bill Myers; and two sisters, Dona (George) Hanna and Peg (Don) Thornton.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at Bath Community Church, 2760 E. Bluelick Rd., Lima, OH 45801. Burial will be in Bluelick Cemetery. Pastor Charlotte Hefner will officiate.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 29, 2013 at Eastside Chapel of Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services, and one hour prior to the funeral at the church.
