LIMA — The Rev. Minnie Lee Smith, 96, died at 9:58 p.m. Jan. 25, 2013, at her residence.

She was born Aug. 15, 1916, in Little Rock, Ark., to Willie L. and Clarina Holmes Sherman, who preceded her in death.

The Rev. Mrs. Smith had been a member of Church River of Life Family Worship Center, under the leadership of Pastor Ted Pollock. She had worked at Greggs Department Store, Westinghouse Electric Corp. and St. Rita’s Medical Center.

Survivors include a son, Samuel L. “Tiny” Collier, of Defiance; three daughters, Clarine Godsey, Sandra L. Taylor and Janna Taylor, all of Lima; and 17 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Rossi Collier Bazmore; three grandchildren; a son, Laneal Collier; two sisters, the Rev. Katie Williams and Cleatrice Harper; and three brothers, Cleophus, Ulice and Charles Sherman.

Services will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday at Philippian Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. Dr. B. LaMont Monford Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Jones-Clark Funeral Home, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m.
