SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP — A Wapakoneta woman was killed Tuesday morning after a violent collision with a tractor-trailer that shut down part of state Route 117 for several hours.Sgt. Craig Hoffer, of the Shawnee Township Police Department, said Lilliy Hollon, 80, died after her Lincoln Town Car and the tractor-trailer collided on Spencerville Road at Kemp Road shortly before 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.“She was northbound on Kemp. She stopped at the stop sign,” Hoffer said. “She was attempting to cross the road when her vehicle was struck by the eastbound truck. The truck driver didn't have much chance at all to avoid the collision.”The collision left gouges in the pavement in the intersection and sent Hollon's vehicle down into a ditch around 100 feet from the intersection. The driver's side of Hollon's vehicle was crushed during the impact. The tractor-trailer sustained heavy front-end damage as well and was towed from the scene.Hoffer said it did not appear Hollon was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.Platoon Chief John Norris, of the Shawnee Township Fire Department, said there was little first responders could do to save Hollon. She died before medics and rescue crews arrived at the scene.
